PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. June 30, 2023) —
It is bittersweet to announce that Derek Hill will be stepping down as the host of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance after eight incredible years. Derek has been an integral part of our team and has made a significant contribution to the event’s success. As we bid farewell to our beloved host, we are excited to welcome Amanda Stretton as our new Master of Ceremonies.
Amanda is the UK’s leading female motorsport, classic car and automotive TV broadcaster. She is renowned for her passion and knowledge of contemporary and classic racing and her understanding of the international car industry. This has resulted in her presenting multiple programs on International TV and being a brand spokesperson for many of the most prestigious car companies in the world.
“I’m proud to hand over the microphone to my good friend and partner in racing, Amanda Stretton,” Derek Hill says. “She’s a rockstar in the car industry and will be an amazing addition to our world-renowned Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.”
Amanda has done a fabulous job for Goodwood presenting both the Festival of Speed and the Revival programs for ITV. She is an exceptional broadcaster but also extremely natural and most importantly makes everyone feel very at ease. She puts a huge amount of energy into it all and her knowledge and passion for the sport is abundantly clear.
But Amanda is more than a presenter, unlike her peers she has raced competitively in historic GT and Le Mans prototypes on the world’s most famous race tracks, and is still the only British female racing driver to have won an International long distance GT race. She is also a leading automotive journalist and is regularly to be found on the TV breakfast show sofas, providing insightful comment and opinion on all aspects of the automotive industry.
“Amanda’s International car industry prowess and at-ease British personality will win the hearts of our audiences around the world,” Chairman Sandra Button says. “She is a long-time friend of ours who immediately feels like part of our Pebble Beach Concours family.”
The 72nd Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance will take place on Sunday, August 20, 2023, and will celebrate Figoni Centennial, Mercedes-Benz S/SS/SSK, Vanderbilt Cup Era Race Cars, Pegaso, Porsche 75th Anniversary, McLaren 60th Anniversary, Lamborghini 60th Anniversary, Postwar Luxury Cars, and American Dream Cars of the 1950s.
